2024 year model, 1 hp Servo Motor Upgrade for Mini Milling Machines.
This is build # 4 Image number 1 (what comes in the box image) is what the actual kit you are buying contains. This kit has multiple improvements over the first 30 that I built to include
the new 2024 controler.

Currently many parts are still hand made:
Lead Time can be up to 5 days.
That also means that if you lose a part, it will have to be hand made to fit your specific system as follows:

Drive belt is a standard size and in stock
Motor is standard and in stock.
Motor controller is custom made 2024 design.
Usually I have 5+ finished but sometimes I am making more.
You will be asked for information to find your previous purchase before we
ship you replacment parts.
Motor drive pulley is mass produced now. We have plenty.
Motor mounting brackets + spindle lock are hand made.
The new design is to allow CNC manufacture in the near future.
Spindle lock is hand made.
Spindle drive pulley is hand made, 5 in stock.
Belt cover shield is hand made.

What I am saying is that if you lose the spindle lock or belt cover you will have to make your own to fit. Maybe I can make a replacement but only with reasonably accurate measurements.

About the system:

Eliminates noisy and failure prone internal plastic H/L speed gear.
Control unit is placed above and and clear of the metal filings that all too often blow the main board. As seen in images.
Runs extremely smooth and quiet.
Adds the reverse on the fly feature.
Adds the E-Stop feature.
Includes the power went out safty feature. This is a must for automated systems.
Increases achievable spindle high speed RPM from (factory claims 2.500 RPM) to 3,280 RPM. This is the actual result we measured on this system. Each new system is subject to individual results depending on the main board, power supply, programming and the milling machine it is installed on, etc.
Low speed achievable spindle speed:
O.E.M. claims 100 RPM. My testing shows almost no torque at these speeds.
Compared to our motor;
125 RPM with 10 NM torque. You cannot stop it by hand, outstanding torque.
Increases hp from (factory claims 1/3 to 3/4 hp depending on model) to 1 HP and 10 NM meter torque.

All milling machines are dangerous, increasing the horsepower increases this danger.

Grizzly G0781 because it has a 28mm spindle. My have a kit in the future but not today.

Spindle speed range is 160 ~ 3,200 RPM.

Full power is available at all speeds.
This means your machine will not load up under load at low speeds.

Note: Manufacturer recommended 300 to 4,000 RPMs
My personal testing results: This motor runs best between 300 and 4,100 RPMs.
A new 750 watt motor like the one seen here in photos. Its a little tricky to install on the mill and you will need long metric allen wrenches. Look at the images. Motor must be slid in while aligning the belt.

A new 2024 controler/driver like the one seen in photos.
This control unit is built by The Custom Crafter to include:

Thermal overload protection with reset.

E-Stop system with brake.

Power went out saftey program.

One latching button reverse on the fly.

Adjustable brake.

Adjustable soft start.

Programable fastest & slowest speed limits.

Speed ajusts in 10 RPM incraments.

The Custom Crafter made in the USA motor mount rails.

Mounting hardware. Includes specialty stainless, metric button head bolts.

One aluminum motor side timing pulley. Custom made by The Custom Crafter. (installed on motor, see line 1).

One aluminum Spindle side timing pulley. Custom machined by the Custom Crafter to fit the spindle (see photos).

A new XXX/L050 1/2" wide timing belt. (Belt has been tested on test mill to insure corect fit with custom made parts)

The control computer (driver). Comes plug and play. Already programmed to optimal performance settings for mini milling machines.

Plastic plugs. Used to seal off spindle head after you remove the high/low gears and shaft.

On-Line access to programming instructions and fault codes.

Belt drive safety shield. Must be installed to prevent belt hitting you in the face should it break at high speeds.

Package will not include basic written assembly instructions yet. There will be a text number for direct assistance from the custom Crafter.

Removal of high/low gear is not required but it is highly recomended.

You will be required to remove the power head and dissemble. This is not easy but it is required to remove the intermediate shaft and high/low gear. Plugs are provided to fill the bearing holes and keep internal components free of metal filings.

Instalation of kit can be done with or without removal of high/low gears.

The kit it's self is easy to install. A text number is provided for tech support.

This system has so much more power that it becomes tempting to see just how much you can cut in a single pass. Do not do this because the rest of the mini mill is not built strong/stable enough for this kind of abuse. If you jam it, you may damage the milling machine to include broken cutters, parts and the control unit. This is abuse and not warranty.

All milling machines are dangerous, increasing the horsepower increases this danger.

Buyer has 14 days from the time he/she receives this item as shown by tracking to request a return authorization.

Seller usually responds in under 24 hours + buyer will have sellers text only phone number.

Buyer has 10 days ship time to have the return at the sellers address. 10 day period starts when seller issues the return authorization.

Seller will inspect returned system and if it passes, seller will issue a refund of the purchase price less shipping. (buyer pays shipping both ways)

Main components have a unique warranty tamper proof seal and internal water soluble identification mark. No refund will be issued if it is missing or removed.

All original parts and packaging must be returned to get a refund.

No return authorizations will be issued after the 14 day period.
Limited 90 to 180 day parts warranty. Labor is buyers responsibility:
See details, what's covered and for how long etc below. Shipping both ways for all parts returned for warranty is the buyers responsibility. Parts returned will be inspected for unique identification mark and or abuse. If found to be abuse or missing the identity mark, no warranty exchange part will be provided and buyer will be required to pay shipping to get their parts back. Warranty exchange parts may or may not be new but instead refurbished or demos that I have from previous builds. Warranty starts on the day our records show the system as paid and not the date the item is actually received.

Servo Motor. - I will exchange a defective servo motor for up to 180 days. Buyer must return the motor + the control unit + the speed control switch for inspection and testing. Additionally original packaging such as Styrofoam package inserts must be used to return these parts.

Computer control unit. - I will exchange a defective control unit PCB for up to 90 days. Buyer must return the motor + the control unit + the speed control switch for inspection and testing. Additionally original packaging such as Styrofoam package inserts must be used to return these parts.

Pulleys, motor mount and aluminum adapters.
180 days - I will exchange or replace these items at no cost or limited cost to buyer as follows. Buyer will be asked to provide photos. If photos are accepted seller will ship replacement parts at no cost to buyer. If photos are not accepted seller will ask buyer to return parts at buyers expense for inspection before seller warranties these parts.

Belt and small parts are not covered. Customer alterations and machine work are not covered and may void the above warranty.

Improper instalation or abusive operation is not warrenty.
We keep all replacement parts in stock. This includes the main PCB and servo motor.

A 5 day shipping delay is possible if we have to make the part.

A 15 day delay is possible if we are on vacation.
